Tiago Pagnussat links up with Dang Van Lam at Cerezo Osaka 

Osaka: Cerezo Osaka, who will represent Japan in the 2021 AFC Champions League, have confirmed the arrival of Brazilian defender Tiago Pagnussat while the club’s new Vietnamese goalkeeper Dang Van Lam also finally landed in Japan at the weekend.

Vietnam international Van Lam, who signed for Cerezo after an 18-month spell with Thailand’s Muangthong United, arrived in Japan on Saturday and will spend two weeks in quarantine at the J.League athletes’ village in line with quarantine regulations relating to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“After a long waiting period due to COVID-19, I'm finally here, in Japan,” Van Lam said in a post on Cerezo’s Facebook page. “I'm really excited and can't wait to meet my teammates, the staff, and especially Cerezo Osaka's fans!”

Van Lam is the first Vietnamese player to sign for a top flight club in Japan and he will be joined at Cerezo by Brazilian defender Tiago, whose arrival was confirmed on Sunday.

The 30-year-old has signed from Brazilian club Ceara and has previously had spells at Bahia and Atletico Minero.

Cerezo have qualified for the playoff rounds of the 2021 AFC Champions League and will face either Melbourne City from Australia or Myanmar’s Shan United in their quest for a berth in Group J alongside Guangzhou FC from China, Hong Kong’s Kitchee and Port FC of Thailand.
