Saitama: Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Talisca has called on his team to bounce back following Wednesday’s 2-0 defeat to Urawa Red Diamonds in the first leg of their AFC Champions League semi-final.

Brazilian star Talisca’s previous visit to Japan just a fortnight ago culminated in individual and team joy.

The 6’3” man rose highest at a corner to head home what proved to be the match-winner in Guangzhou’s away goals victory against Continental champions Kashima Antlers in the quarter-finals.

But on Wednesday night, his return to the Land of the Rising Sun could not have concluded more differently.

A disappointing loss to a Urawa team who are struggling in the J.League that gives them a mountain to climb in the return meeting in three weeks’ time.

“We played really poorly, a really bad game, and it was, of course, a very negative result for us,” said Talisca, following the match at Saitama Stadium.

“All of the team, not only me, have to improve in every aspect of our game.

“Football is like this though; we cannot keep our heads down. We must keep our heads up and look forward to a better result.

“I would like to say thank you to all of our supporters who travelled to the game or watched on TV at home, you're very important to us and thanks for all your support.”

There is little turnaround time for Talisca and his teammates in what is a busy fixture schedule as the various domestic leagues head towards their climax.

Many of the side will head to national duty during the international break before they face Shenzhen FC in the Chinese Super League on October 18.

"Keep your heads up, Guangzhou fans."

“The first thing to do now is to focus on our next match in the Chinese Super League,” said Talisca.

“And after that we will return our focus to the AFC Champions League.

“We have to look ahead to that return meeting against Urawa at home and ensure we prepare for all aspects of the game.”
