Yeom: Our three-goal lead means nothing

Suwon: Star midfielder Yeom Ki-hun has warned his Suwon Samsung Bluewings teammates that Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors are capable of an unlikely comeback ahead of Wednesday's AFC Champions League quarter-final second leg tie.

An impressive 3-0 win in the first leg might have some penciling Suwon's name into the semi-finals, but you write off two-time AFC Champions League winners Jeonbuk at your peril.

And it's a mistake that Yeom is adamant his side will not be making at Suwon World Cup Stadium.

"Everyone knows Jeonbuk is such a strong team, that even 3-0 down they can overcome this scoreline," said the Korea Republic international.

"We have to prepare so well for them, and we know it won’t be an easy game. We cannot play for a draw, we have to win to go through to the final.

"They are going to attack right from the start, we know that, so we’ll aim to defend well and hit them on the counter-attack."

Yeom knows more than most about Jeonbuk's tenacity, having started his career with the Jeonju-based club.

Indeed, one of his prized memories is winning the AFC Champions League under current coach Choi Kang-hee in 2006.

"I was so young then," he recalled. "When we won the AFC Champions League title, it was my dream come true, I can’t even put the feeling into words."

"In that [2006] campaign, we lost every first leg in the knockout stage, but always won the second leg," he added.

"Even now Jeonbuk are like this, so it shows how important the second leg is – that’s the important match.

"The only thing that has changed since that time is my attitude to the tournament, I was so young and nervous for each game back then, but now I am more experienced and comfortable playing."

"I started my career with Jeonbuk and I will never forget the memory of winning the AFC Champions League with them, but I'm a Suwon player and every match I try to play my best against them.

"Each match, I want to play better than ever. I want fans to remember me for this reason. Of course, I am a little bit nervous for this match but I am also looking forward to it and will want to play my best."
