ACL2020 MD1 Toyota Player of the Week: Keijiro Ogawa

Hat-trick hero Keijiro Ogawa helped Vissel Kobe defeat Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) 5-1 in their debut win at home in the Group G opener on Wednesday as the 27-year-old picked up this week's top player plaudit.

Ogawa showed an impressive clinical edge to his finishing with his three goals coming from three shots on target. The wide forward also created three chances for his teammates.

The Vissel Kobe youth academy graduate also made 35 passes with a passing accuracy of 83% (77% in the opponents' half) and won two duels to earn an 9.1 rating to top the Toyota standings for this week.

Andre Carillo (below) also shone on Matchday One with the Al Hilal SFC winger scoring in the defending champions' convincing 2-0 win against Shahr Khodro FC of Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Peruvian also laid on the pass for teammate Bafetimbi Gomis, created four additional chances for teammates and made 58 passes at a passing accuracy of 88%.

Carrillo wasn't just effective going forward, however, as he did not shirk his defensive duties with two tackles, two blocked shots and one interception for his 8.8. rating.

One of the marquee players from this year's AFC Champions League rounds off the top three as Barcelona and Spain legend Andres Iniesta shone on his Asian debut with Vissel Kobe, tallying two assists in a sublime performance.


The midfield maestro (above) also created six chances for teammates, made 59 passes at an impressive 92% accuracy, with 84% accuracy in the opponents' half, for his 8.4 rating.

Another J.League player Keita Endo enters the list at number four after netting for Yokohama F. Marinos in their 2-1 win at Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors. The young midfielder also won nine duels, more than any other from the tie in Jeonju, to earn an 8.2 rating.

Completing the top five is Al Nassr striker Abderazak Hamdallah who registered a 7.8 after he scored in the Saudi champions 2-2 draw with Qatar's Al Sadd SC.

A third Vissel Kobe player, goalscorer Kyogo Furuhashi, is next with a 7.8, followed by Saeid Aghaei of Sepahan FC and Al Ahli Saudi FC midfielder Abdulfattah Asiri who tallied 7.8 and 7.7 ratings respectively.
