AFC Champions League MD5 (WEST) Toyota Player of the Week: Caio
Doha: Sharjah winger Caio has been voted by the fans as the 2020 AFC Champions League Matchday Five Toyota Player of the Week. In data provided by OPTA, the official data provider for the Asian Football Confederation, Caio had earned a rating of 8.4 for his performance against Al Taawoun in Group C, with the Brazilian scoring once in the 6-0 win.
Sharjah striker Welliton, who scored a hat-trick in the defeat of Al Taawoun, was top of OPTA's ratings this week after he received a 9.5 for his goal-scoring exploits in the clash. The Brazilian netted his treble from four shots on target, won four duels and also created two chances for teammates.
Having been nominated for the Toyota Player of the Week for Matchday Four, Mazin Fayyadh(below) was again a candidate for player of the round after he scored for a second consecutive Matchday in Al Shorta's 1-1 draw with Esteghlal.
The 23-year-old Iraqi midfielder's 26th-minute goal came from four shots, while he won six duels, completed four dribbles and created one chance to earn himself an 8.1 OPTA rating as the Baghdad-based club shared the points with the Tehran giants.
Al Nassr's Khalid Al Ghannam(below, right) was also on target as the Saudi side drew 1-1 with Qatari heavyweights Al Sadd in Group D on Monday. Al Ghannam also won 11 duels, completed five dribbles and created one chance for teammates for his 7.7 OPTA score.
Shabab Al Ahli Dubai goalkeeper Majed Nasser, who registered a 7.6, earned a cleansheet in the Emirati side's goalless stalemate with Uzbekistan's Pakhtakor, while left-back Mehdi Torkaman also shone for Sepahan in their own 0-0 scoreline against Al Ain to also pick up a 7.6 rating.
Rounding off the Matchday Five candidates were Shahr Khodrou's Mohammad Ali Faramarzi and Al Shorta's Ali Faez who registered 7.6 and 7.1 OPTA scores respectively.
