A third Persepolis player, Hossein Kanaani (below), came next in the Toyota Player of the Week candidates after he also gained a 6.7 rating as he impressed in a maiden AFC Champions League campaign that had seen him take the place of club legend Seyed Jalal Hosseini in the heart of defence.

Kanaani, who opened the scoring in the penalty shootout, gained possession nine times, made nine clearances and three interceptions as he continued his fine partnership with Khalilzadeh at the back.

Coming in at fifth in Stat Perform's rankings from the semi-finals was Awad Khamis, another player who made the shortlist for the third successive round.
