AFC Champions League Toyota Player of the Week: Bashar Resan
Doha: Bashar Resan has been voted by the fans as the 2020 AFC Champions League Toyota Player of the Week after the Persepolis midfielder shone for the Tehran giants despite their 2-1 AFC Champions League final defeat to Ulsan Hyundai.
The ever-dependable Iraq international, who registered an impressive 92 percent passing accuracy from his 59 passes, had two shots on goal and created one chance, gained 43 percent of the fans' votes while he was rated number five by Stats Perform – the AFC's official data provider – with a score of 6.2.
Rated top by Stats Perform, was Resan's teammate in midfield, Milad Sarlak (above), with a 94 percent passing accuracy and eight of his 10 duels won among his most noteworthy numbers.
Sarlak, who head coach Yahya Golmohammadi selected ahead of fellow holding midfielder Kamal Kamyabinia, also created once chance and earned a score of 7.3.
Next in the Stats Perform rankings was another Persepolis player Mehdi Abdi Qara(below), who opened the scoring late in the first half with a low effort into the bottom right corner.
Abdi Qara's goal was his third of the campaign after he also scored in the semi-final and the group stage. The striker had two attempts on goal across the 90 minutes and his performance was rated at 6.9.
Ulsan's match-winner Junior Negrao (below), who earned a 6.6 rating, came third in Stats Perform's rankings after the Brazilian scored both of his side's goals as they came from one down to win and be crowned kings of Asia.
Negrao's first came after the striker saw his spot-kick saved but he made no mistake with the rebound to level the scores before he dispatched his second penalty of the game with what proved to be the decisive goal 10 minutes after the interval.
Dutchman Dave Bulthuis (below) came fourth after the centre-back put in another solid display in the Ulsan backline to become the first player from the Netherlands to win the AFC Champions League.
The 30-year-old, whose performance was rated at 6.4, made four interceptions, had one shot on goal and posted a passing accuracy of 73 percent, while Resan completed the top five.
Sixth in the Toyota Player of the Week was Ulsan's experienced midfielder Lee Chung-yong, who posted a hugely impressive 100 percent passing accuracy, earning a 5.9 rating as he finished his first season back in Korea Republic with a trophy.
Rounding off this week's top eight were two players who also earned 5.9 ratings, Ulsan defender Kim Kee-hee and Persepolis goalkeeper Hamed Lak, who saved Negrao's first penalty only to see the Brazilian put the rebound into the back of the net.
