Geldiyev aiming to make up for final heartbreak

Hanoi: Altyn Asyr captain Serdar Geldiyev has set his sights on lifting the 2019 AFC Cup after the Turkmen side made it all the way to the final last year only to suffer defeat at the hands of Iraq’s Air Force Club. 

For the second successive campaign, Altyn Asyr were crowned Central Asian Zonal Champions after again pipping Tajikistan’s FC Istiklol in their final Group D game.

The Ashgabat team are next tasked with Hanoi FC in the Inter-Zone Semi-finals with the first leg against the ASEAN Zonal Champions taking place in the Vietnamese capital on Tuesday.

Hanoi: Pham Duc Huy has admitted that Hanoi FC want to make history for Vietnamese football as they prepare to take on Turkmenistan’s Altyn Asyr in the 2019 AFC Cup Inter-Zone semi-final first leg on Tuesday.

Five-star Altyn Asyr lift Turkmenistan Super Cup

Ashgabat: Reigning league champions Altyn Asyr FC have added another trophy to their growing collection, overcoming city rivals Köpetdag Ashgabat 2-0 to win the Turkmenistan Super Cup on Saturday.

The trophy, a play-off bringing together the country’s defending league and cup champions from the previous season, has now been won five successive times by Altyn Asyr, who are chasing a sixth successive Yokary Liga title this season.
