Bacolod City: Nguyen Thanh Long believes a recent upturn in Becamex Binh Duong’s form can help the Vietnamese side gain the result they need against Group G winners Ceres Negros as they aim to qualify for the 2019 AFC Cup knockout rounds.
Binh Duong defeated Persija Jakarta 3-1 two weeks ago to eliminate the Indonesian side and remain in the hunt for a place in the ASEAN Zonal semi-finals ahead of their match in the Philippines on Wednesday.
They have since picked up four points from two games in the V-League, including a 1-0 victory over Saigon at the weekend which helped move them towards mid-table.

Dhaka: When Chennaiyin FC play Abahani Limited Dhaka in the 2019 AFC Cup on Wednesday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, it will be the first time they will be playing away from India.
But for Anirudh Thapa, this is no unfamiliar territory. Last year, the youngster got to wear the captain’s armband in Dhaka at the SAFF Cup when he became the youngest player to take that responsibility. While it was a dream come true for the Dehradun boy, the dream didn’t end as he would have desired when India lost to Maldives in the final.

It was, however, the visitors from Bahrain who opened the scoring 10 minutes later. Sayed Mohamed advanced down the right and whipped a cross for Isa Abdulbari. The club captain rode highest to head home his third goal of the 2019 AFC Cup and put Malkiya in front.

Muscat: Oman’s Al Suwaiq ended an 11-game winless run in the AFC Cup after defeating Kuwait’s Qadsia SC 2-1 at Al Seeb Stadium on Matchday Six of Group C on Monday.
The 2014 AFC Cup winners, Qadsia, needed a win in their final group game to secure second place and stand a chance of competing for the best runners-up ticket to the next round, whereas Al Suwaiq had already been eliminated from the competition.
Goalkeeper Hamad Al Khalidi was tested early on, when the Qadsia defence struggled to clear the ball away following a set-piece and Tiago Lopes tried to poke in from close range, but the Kuwaiti goalkeeper was well positioned and made the save.
