Vote for your best goal of AFC Cup 2019
The Dutchman spoke exclusively to the-AFC.com after the vote concluded to reflect on his winning goal.
"We were playing Lao [Toyota FC] in our first home game in the AFC Cup and we were all buzzing to get a win," recalled Klok. "The AFC competition was a new experience for us, so we really wanted to get a good performance in – especially when it was our first AFC Cup game in Indonesia.
"I remember telling my friends before the game: "Today I will score a worldie".
"The game started, and I missed a penalty... I've never missed one before in my life! So during the whole game, I had that urge to make up for it. And then I had my moment.
"The ball came in from the left side. I controlled it with my right foot. And I didn't think further, I just pulled the trigger. I saw it fly in like a rocket – of course, I felt great. I will always have a special feeling about this goal.
"To be voted best goal of the year in such a great competitive competition as the AFC Cup makes it even more special to remember. But also it gives more motivation to taste more success in AFC Competitions.
"I want to give a huge thanks to Indonesia: For their support, their votes, for always being loyal to me and for always believing in me. It gives me strength, power and motivation to reach new levels."
While the 26-year-old and his teammates were eliminated at the ASEAN Zonal Semi-Final in this year's competition, Indonesia's 2018-19 Piala Indonesia winners will have a chance to go again as they enter the draw on Tuesday for the 2020 edition.
