The Egyptian, however, while happy with Dhofar’s performance, said he would be working on sharpening their finishing ahead of their next match.

"While I'm happy with this victory, there are areas that we have to work on,” said Abdel Azim.

"We dominated but didn’t put away the numerous chances we had. We have to work on this before our next match.

Al Jazeera head coach Amjad Abu Tu'aimeh blamed the defeat on lack of preparation and competitive matches

"Despite the defeat, we had a good performance," said Abu Tu'aimeh, who replaced Tunisian Chiheb Ellili as head coach. "We lacked match fitness because the Jordan league is yet to start and we didn't have good preparation.

"I hope that we can recover from this defeat and get a better result in the next match (against Bahrain’s Riffa on February 25).”
