South China's Chan Siu Ki through to AFC Cup Bracket Challenge final


Kuala Lumpur: South China AA's Chan Siu Ki's lovely strike from the 2015 edition has made the final of the AFC Cup Bracket Challenge.

Chan's goal against Malaysia's Pahang sealed the tie for South China AA and the former Hong Kong international will now face off against Ali Ashfaq of Maldives side New Radiant in the final which kicks off on Wednesday.

Chan polled 51.6 percent of the votes to see off the challenge of Johor Darul Tazim's Safawi Rasid in the semi-final.

Chan overcame Persipura Jayapura's Boaz Solossa in the Round of 32, Safa SC's Mohamad Haider in the last 16 and then another JDT player, Safee Sali, in the quarter-finals.

It was the only goal in a 1-0 scoreline in Kuantan but it was a strike worthy of winning any game, as Hong Kong forward Chan Siu Ki's rocket from range zipped past Pahang goalkeeper Khairul Azhan. One touch on the edge of the box to kill the ball with his right foot and then, with little back-lift, a swing of his left foot to send it into the far corner of the net.

The poster boy of Malaysian football Safawi Rasid broke onto the scene in the 2017 edition and has since starred in the AFC Champions League and earned a move to Portugal. In 2018 against Tampines Rovers, the forward offered a glimpse of his potential, taking one touch before rocketing home an unstoppable effort from distance to open the scoring in a 2-1 group stage win.
