Wednesday, June 26, 2019

Bishkek: Dordoi FC ended their 2019 AFC Cup Group D campaign on a high after scoring a 3-0 win over FC Khujand on Wednesday.

Playing in front of their home fans at the Spartak Stadium, Dordoi marched to a commanding position in the first half itself with two goals.

They then returned to snuff out any hopes of a Khujand comeback with another goal in the second half to finish their campaign on a high.

The first salvo was fired in the sixth minute when Kairat Uulu’s cross from the right was missed by Farhat Musabekov but was converted by Wahyt Orazsahedow.

This marked the beginning of a period of complete dominance by the three players as Khujand goalkeeper Davit Kupatadze was kept busy throughout the first half.

Tusrunali Rustamov, who had scored in the last match for Khujand, also had a chance early in the first half but his shot rebounded off the post.

In the 36th minute, the constant pressing almost created another goal in a similar fashion to the first.

But just as Orazsahedov began his celebratory run after tapping the loose ball in, he was flagged offside.

At the stroke of half time though, a penalty converted by Mirlan Murzaev gave Dordoi a second goal they deserved after a half of attacking football.

The Kyrgyz club began the second half in the same fashion and hardly made any mistakes that Khujand could take advantage of.

The best the Tajik club could manage in the second half were some wayward long rangers.

Dordoi made the most of a corner in the 60th minute when Artur Valikayev headed home to put the match beyond the reach of Khujand.

Dordoi, however, suffered a blow when Uulu received his marching orders in the 73rd minute.
