Matchday Five - Group B: Al Zawraa Club 1-1 Al Ahed FC

Karbala: Ahmad Zreik's fifth goal of the campaign earned Lebanon's Al Ahed a 1-1 draw against Iraq's Al Zawraa in Matchday Five of the AFC Cup Group B on Tuesday.

Al Ahed tried to open the scoring early in the game, but Nour Mansour's free-kick missed the target in the fourth minute. The home side responded in the 17th minute through Fiston Abdul Razak's cross which found Mohannad Abdul Raheem inside the box, but the latter's header was easily saved.

After a goalless first half, Al Zawraa intensified their attacks in an attempt to break the deadlock and came close just three minutes after the restart as Abdul Razak right-footed effort from the edge of the area went inches wide off the right post.



The match exploded into life eight minutes before the full time whistle, after Al Zawraa were awarded a penalty kick following a foul by Al Ahed's Mehdi Khalil inside the box. Hussein Ali fired from the spot into the top left corner, taking the lead for the Iraqi side.

Al Ahed managed to find an equaliser in the dying moments of the game, after Khalil Khamis set up Zreik with a headed pass that the striker nodded into the back of the net to rescue a point for the Lebanese side.

Both sides remain unbeaten in the competition as Al Ahed continue to top of the group with nine points, while Al Zawraa are three points behind in second place.
