Preview - West Zonal SF 2nd Leg: Al Jazeera (0) v (3) Al Jaish

Amman: Al Jazeera face an uphill battle as they host Syria’s Al Jaish in the second leg of the 2019 AFC Cup West Zonal Semi-Final on Tuesday.

If they are to reach the West Zonal Final for the second year running, Al Jazeera need to overturn a 3-0 disadvantage suffered in the first leg in Bahrain a week ago.

Going into the half-time break goalless and a man-down, Al Jaish looked set for a difficult second 45 minutes. Instead, Bassel Moustafa struck twice and Mohammed Al Wakid added a third 10 minutes from time to put the Syrians in the driving seat going into the return fixture.

The red card for Abdulmalik Al Anizan means he will miss Tuesday’s encounter through suspension. But in the likes of Yousef Al Hamwi and Fares Arnaout, they have the meanest defence in the West zone, having conceded just four goals all tournament.

Al Jazeera, on the other side, have the strongest attack in the West zone, despite failing to find the net in the first leg, their first blank in seven AFC Cup games. They rely on the attacking talents of Mohammed Tannous and Abdullah Al Attar to deliver the goals they so dearly need in Amman.
