Thailand lift record 15th title
Ho Chi Minh: Thailand beat Indonesia 5-0 to successfully defend their AFF Futsal Championship title at the Phu Tho Stadium on Sunday.
Thailand entered the fray as favourites, having won the tournament in every appearance since 2001, while Indonesia, who narrowly beat Myanmar 4-3 in the semi-finals, were aiming for an upset, setting the stage for a thrilling match.

The two sides had twice met in the final, in 2006 and 2008, and both were eager to open the scoring as they employed a high-pressing strategy from the get-go.
Muhammad Osamanmusa, one of Thailand's rising stars, had already bagged two hat-tricks in the tournament, and he did not disappoint in the final as he broke the deadlock in the 10th minute.
Veteran Suphawut Thueanklang then scored from the second penalty spot to ensure the 14-time champions a two-goal lead heading into the break.
Warut Wangsama-aeo made it 3-0 four minutes into the second half, while Kritsada Wangkaeo etched his name on the scoresheet in the 35th minute.
Indonesia tried to mount a comeback with power-play, but Thailand goalkeeper Kanison Phoopun was simply unbeatable.
Wangkaeo would have the final say in the match as he struck from across the court into an unguarded goalmouth to seal a well-deserved win.
