Bangkok: Bangkok: It will be an explosive encounter when Nagoya Oceans of Japan take on Indonesia’s Vamos FC in the AFC Futsal Club Championship Thailand 2019 quarter-finals at the Bangkok Arena on Wednesday.

Three-time champions Nagoya Oceans will be facing Vamos for the second time in the Continental competition, with the Japanese side having won their previous encounter 4-0 in last year’s group stage.

Vamos are making their second appearance in the quarter-finals after creating history at home in 2018 when they reached the knockout stage of the competition.

Following their morale-boosting win over defending champions Mes Sungun Varseqan on Monday, Oceans head coach Juan Zamora admitted that his players are in high spirits and are ready for their next test.

“We had three tough games in the group stages and for now we must rest and plan our strategy against Vamos on Wednesday.

Oceans had a slow start in their first match but went on to record three wins on the trot against UAE’s Al Dhafra Sports and Cultural Club, Kuwait’s Kazma SC and Mes Sungun, scoring 10 goals and conceding five.

“The team is in good shape and morale is high. We will prepare for our next opponents and hopefully do well.

“Vamos can play at a very high level tactically and technically. They have good individual players like their goalkeeper (Muhammad Nizar Nayaruddin) and their pivots (Al Fajri Zikri, Ali Abedin and Iqbal Aliefian). We will be prepared for a tough game."

Vamos, meanwhile, suffered their first loss of their campaign after their 4-0 defeat to Lebanon’s Bank of Beirut in their final group game but Vamos head coach Reza Fallahzadeh was pleased with his players’ performance in reaching the knockout stage.

“This AFC tournament has been nothing short of high quality. We are very happy to be in the quarter-finals.

“I’m proud of my players and my team for their good performance. We know we have very hard work to do tomorrow because Nagoya Oceans are here to be champions."
