Qualifiers - Group G: China PR, Indonesia continue winning run
Jakarta: China PR cruised to a 6-0 win over the Philippines, while Indonesia overwhelmed Northern Mariana Islands 15-1 in Group G of the AFC U-16 Championship 2020 Qualifiers at the Stadion Madya Atletik on Wednesday.
The victory was China PR's second of the Qualifiers, having beaten Brunei Darussalam 7-0 in their opening match on Saturday.
Indonesia were too strong for Northern Mariana Islands as they led 6-1 going into the break before turning on the power in the second half.

China PR dominated possession from the start and threatened in the 10th minute but Maiwulang Mijiti failed to find the target as he sent his free-kick off the mark.
The East Asians came close to scoring two minutes later when Fan Chao did well to hold up play down the middle before sending Liu Ruichen clear inside the box, whose effort hit the side netting.
The young Azkals’ resistance finally broke in the 13th minute after Fan Chao latched onto a rebound following Ailikuti Aishajiang’s corner, finishing with a well taken drive from inside the box into the roof of the net.
China PR increased their advantage in the 20th minute from the penalty spot after Philippines’ goalkeeper Adrian De Sola brought down a goal-bound Maiwulang.
Maiwulang made no mistake from the spot with a cool finish as the young Team Dragon took a 2-0 lead going into the break.
China PR began the second half with the same intensity and scored their third goal in the 47th minute through He Xiaoke’s effort.
He picked up his brace five minutes later when he beat the offside trap before slotting home China PR’s fourth goal following Zhang Yixuan’s defence splitting pass.
There was further agony for the Philippines as they fell further behind in the 57th minute when Fan found the back of the net following his clever lob over De Sola, who was beaten again a minute later when he failed to stop Maiwulang’s close range effort.
China PR will next face Northern Mariana Islands on Friday, while the Philippines meet Brunei on Sunday.
Indonesia 15-1 Northern Mariana Islands
The home fans were treated to a goal fest at the Stadion Madya Atletik as Marselino Ferdinan and Ahmad Athallah Araihan combined to score nine goals against Northern Mariana Islands.
Ferdinan opened the account for the home side in the eighth minute and Aditiya Daffa Al Haqi doubled Indonesia’s lead in the 15th minute.
The show got on the way when Ahmad Athallah Araihan scored four consecutive goals before Northern Mariana Islands pulled one back in added time through Jim Kurt Maniago, as Indonesia took a 6-1 lead into half-time.
It was then Ferdinan’s turn to shine as the No 10 scored two goals six minutes after the interval before adding another in the 63rd minute - right after strikes from Ruy Arianto and Wahyu Pratama.
Despite their 10-goal advantage, Indonesia kept pressing and added four more goals through Ruy Arianto (73rd), Wahyu Pratama (78th), Mikael Alfredo Tata (87th) and Ferdinan in the final minute to finish with a flourish.
