Qualifiers - Group K: Korea Republic advance in style

Yangon: Korea Republic booked their place in the Finals after defeating Thailand 2-0 in Group K of the AFC U-16 Championship 2020 Qualifiers at the Thuwunna Stadium on Sunday.


Two goals in the first half saw Korea Republic claim their third victory in the Qualifiers as Thailand settled for second place in Group K.

Korea Republic took the lead in the 12th minute through Chang Ha-min, who increased his tally to three goals in the Qualifiers.

Lee Kyu-dong, who scored three against Chinese Taipei on Matchday One, doubled the advantage for the East Asians in the 35th minute.

Content with their lead, two-time champions Korea Republic opted to play defensively in the second half but Thailand, despite their best efforts, couldn't find the breakthrough they needed.


Myanmar 0-2 Chinese Taipei

Qualifiers - Group K: Myanmar vs Chinese Taipei

Both teams came into the ties without a win and despite their best efforts, the score remained 0-0 going into the break.

However, Chinese Taipei broke the deadlock in the 48th minute through Huang Yung-chun’s strike and the East Asians doubled their lead through Luo Zih-an’s 85th-minute goal to take the three points.
