Manama: Bahrain stayed on top of Group E after defeating Bhutan 4-0, while Bangladesh fought back to salvage a 1-1 draw against Jordan in the AFC U-19 Championship Uzbekistan 2020 Qualifiers on Friday.

Jordan breezed past Bhutan on opening day but the West Asians found it hard to break down Bangladesh, who conceded three goals against Bahrain on Wednesday.

Belal Yasein Al Laham's side however, finally broke the deadlock in first half stoppage time through captain Danial Ahmed Afaneh's penalty.

Bangladesh started the second half with renewed confidence and their persistence paid off in the 74th minute after captain Yeasin Arafat found the back of the net.

Jordan tried in vain to regain the lead but were unable to breach the Bangladesh defence.

Bhutan 0-4 Bahrain

Bahrain, who eased past Bangladesh on Wednesday, stamped their authority in the 33rd minute with Adel Ebrahim firing the West Asians into the lead with his penalty before Abdulrahman Sayed Mohamed doubled the advantage in the 42nd minute.

Abdulla Nemer Almesaeed picked up his second goal of the qualifying campaign with his effort in the first half stoppage time.

Any chance of a Bhutan comeback was quickly diminished in the second half as Bahrain extended their lead following Sayed Jawad Alawi's strike in the 49th minute to seal the victory.

The win ensured Ismaeel Aziz Jaafar Karami's charges have maximum points from two games going into their final fixture against Jordan - who have four.

The 11 group winners and four best runners-up will join hosts Uzbekistan in the 2020 Finals.

Tajikistan have already qualified as Group C winners and should Uzbekistan finish either top of Group F of the Qualifiers or are among the best four second-placed teams, the fifth best runners-up will qualify.

Group A of the Qualifiers - featuring Iraq, Oman, Palestine, Kuwait and Pakistan - will be played on November 22-30 in Muscat, Oman.
