Fowler promises more goals for Australia
Chonburi: Mary Fowler is confident of sealing Australia’s spot in the final of the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship Thailand 2019 when they face defending champions Japan in the competition’s last four at the Chonburi Stadium on Wednesday.
While Australia are just 90 minutes away from qualifying for the 2020 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Nigeria, Fowler admits that their journey so far has been a challenging one.
“We had a tough start against DPR Korea. Losing that game obviously meant we had to win the next two games."

In their final Group A tie, Australia needed a win to progress, while Vietnam were a mere seven minutes away from sealing a first knockout stage appearance until Fowler’s last-gasp goal sent the Young Matildas through at a rain-soaked IPE Chonburi Stadium.
“As a striker, my job is to score goals. I’m happy to get three important goals in the tournament so far to help the team get to the semi-finals,” said Fowler.
“The goal against Vietnam, the conditions were obviously were pretty tough to play in but we stuck it out and eventually I got the winner which is a good feeling.”
