Bishkek: Kyrgyz Republic and Guam got their bids to qualify for the AFC U-19 Women's Championship 2019 off to winning starts in Group C of the Round 1 Qualifiers at the Dolen Omurzakov Stadium in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic on Saturday.
Kyrgyz Republic had to come from behind to defeat United Arab Emirates 2-1 while Guam were in fine form as they scored a 12-0 win over Maldives.
UAE 1-2 KYRGYZ REPUBLIC
In a tight match which saw neither side able to find a breakthrough in the first half, the tie burst into life when Shahd Khaled Al Zarkan scored for the UAE in the 59th minute.
A stung Kyrgyz Republic immediately upped the tempo as they went in search of the equaliser and their heavy pressing paid off in the 67th minute as Dalinger Viktoriia drew them level.
Seven minutes later, the hosts went ahead through Yrysbek Kyzy Kenzhebubu and it was a lead Kyrgyz Republic defended to start their campaign with a valuable three points.
Up next for UAE are Maldives on Monday while Kyrgyz Republic will face Guam on Wednesday.
