Buriram: Striker Yazan Al Naimat will recover from missing two clear-cut chances in Jordan’s opening match of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020, according to head coach Ahmed Abu Ismael.
The 20-year-old striker contributed to Friday's 2-1 Group D victory by winning the penalty kick which was converted by Mohammed Bani Atieh in the first half, but Al Naimat could have done a lot better when one-on-one against DPR Korea goalkeeper Kang Ju-hyuk on two occasions.

Buriram: Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates collected a point each after playing out a goalless draw at Buriram Stadium to kick-off their AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 Group D campaigns on Friday.
After a quiet opening 15 minutes, Nguyen Quang Hai nearly struck first for Vietnam. The skipper caught goalkeeper Mohammed Al Shamsi off-guard with curled free-kick from the right flank, but the Emiratis breathed a sigh of relief as the ball passed inches off the outside of the post.
Halfway through the opening period, the UAE were gifted a golden opportunity to take the lead when Nguyen Thanh Chung failed to clear a cross from the right, allowing Jassim Yaqoob to pounce on the loose ball, but the winger miscued his kick sending the ball wide.

Buriram: Jordan survived a late scare to earn a valuable 2-1 win against DPR Korea and move to the top of Group D of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 on Friday.
Coach Abdullah Abu Ismael’s men started on the front foot and had their first big chance of the match after 11 minutes when Yazan Al Naimat embarked on a solo run, overtaking two defenders to go through on goal, but his tame finish was caught by goalkeeper Kang Ju-hyok.

Buriram: Runners-up from 2018, Vietnam need to improve certain aspects of their play if they are to go far this time around. That is the message from head coach Park Hang-seo after his side started their AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 campaign with a 0-0 draw against the UAE on Friday.
Nguyen Quang Hai came close on a couple of occasions for Vietnam and Nguyen Tien Linh was denied a winner at the death by the Emirati goalkeeper as Park’s side settled for a point at Buriram Stadium.

Bangkok: After seeing his Thailand side sweep to a comprehensive 5-0 win over Bahrain on Wednesday, head coach Akira Nishino has declared that the Southeast Asians do not fear any of the other teams vying for glory at this year’s AFC U23 Championship.
A brace apiece from Suphanat Mueanta and Jaroensak Wonggorn helped the host nation breeze to a comfortable Matchday One victory at Bangkok’s Rajamangala Stadium, success which saw them go two points clear at the top of the Group A standings.

Bangkok: Head coach Abdulghani Shahad is expecting a marked improvement in Iraq’s performance when they take on Bahrain in Group A of the AFC U23 Championship Thailand 2020 on Saturday following their opening day draw with Australia.
Shahad’s side picked up a point in the meeting with the Olyroos on Wednesday despite enduring a difficult pre-tournament preparation period due to the suspension of the Iraqi league, which has left many of his players short of match fitness.
But, with a game under their belts, the coach is confident his team will take a step forward at Thammasat Stadium as they seek to move towards a place in the knockout rounds.

Songkhla: Introducing Mehdi Ghayedi at half-time was all part of the plan, head coach Hamid Estili said, after the Esteghlal star was part of a second half revival in Islamic Republic of Iran’s 1-1 AFC U23 Championship draw against holders Uzbekistan on Thursday.
With Team Melli Omid facing a 1-0 deficit at the interval, Estili introduced Ghayedi in place of Ali Shojaei, with the shift forcing Allahyar Sayyadmanesh into a positional change after he had led the line in the opening 45 minutes.
The reshuffle paid dividends, with Iran manufacturing five efforts on goal in quick succession after the break; pressure that ultimately produced Reza Dehgani’s equalising goal in the 58th minute.
