Liverpool chance for Al Sadd

Paris: Qatar Stars League champions Al Sadd could face English giants Liverpool in the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup in December.


Monday's draw for the tournament, to be hosted by Qatar, will see Al Sadd open their campaign against Oceania representatives Hienghene Sport on December 11.

Should Al Sadd win, up next for them will be CONCACAF Champions League winners Monterrey three days later and another triumph will set up a clash with UEFA Champions League holders Liverpool on December 18.

Al Sadd are in the 2019 FIFA Club World Cup as champions of the host nation and head coach Xavi will relish taking on Liverpool, should the opportunity arise.

Liverpool, together with the yet to be known Copa Libertadores winners, only enter the competition in the semi-finals.

The 2019 Copa Libertadores champions will face either the winners of the 2019 AFC Champions League or African champions Esperance Tunis in the semi-finals on December 17.

The final will be played on December 21.
