Group D: Japan go through in style
Vitoria: Jun Nishikawa struck in the 83rd minute as Japan defeated Senegal 1-0 at the Estádio Kléber Andrade on Saturday to book their FIFA Under-17 World Cup Brazil 2019 knockout stage spot.
The result meant Japan finished as Group D winners ahead of previously undefeated Senegal, with the Asian champions having defeated Netherlands 3-0 and drawn 0-0 with USA.
Japan will play the runners-up from either Group B, E or F in the last 16 on Wednesday.

Shinya Nakano pinged the crossbar a minute into first-half stoppage time, the closest the Japanese would come until Nishikawa's winner in the 83rd minute.
