Jordan came into the tie with an unbeaten record, having beaten Chinese Taipei 2-1 and settling for a draw with Kuwait, and they needed three points to keep pace with table toppers Australia.

Nepal, having lost two of their three matches, needed a positive result and they set up defensively and looked to hit Jordan on the counter attack.

It was an approach that worked for the duration of the first half as Nepal prevented Jordan from finding the back of the net.

Vital Borkelmans' Jordan, however, were not to be denied their reward for their positive approach and, after 55 minutes of hard work, they were presented with a golden opportunity when Nepal defender Dinesh Rajbanshi brought down Yaseen Mahmoud Bakheet in the box.

Feras Zayed Shilbaya converted the spot-kick and the home side were finally ahead.

Jordan suffered a setback when goalkeeper Amer Shafi had to be substituted due to injury with Yazeed Mo'ien Abulaila taking his place.

Abulaila proved he was a worthy replacement, denying Nepal in the 75th minute when poor defending allowed Rohit Chand a clear chance but the custodian stood firm to maintain Jordan's lead.

Three minutes later, Jordan's Ahmad Ersan scored a beauty when, despite finding himself with limited space after receiving the ball from Bakheet, he lobbed the ball over 'keeper Kiran Kumar Limbu and into the back of the net.,

Bakheet earned his second assist for the night when his chipped effort saw Baha' Faisal Seif rising highest to head home Jordan's third goal in the 88th minute.

Jordan will play host again on November 14 when they welcome Australia, while Nepal will face Kuwait five days later.
