Renard announces Saudi Arabia squad for Group D campaign


Riyadh:Head coach Herve Renard has named his first Saudi Arabia squad as the West Asians get set to begin their Asian Qualifiers campaign for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar and AFC Asian Cup China 2023.

Renard, appointed in July, has been tasked with ensuring Saudi Arabia qualify for their second successive FIFA World Cup and sixth overall.

They will also be chasing a fourth AFC Asian Cup title after their UAE 2019 campaign ended in the group stage.

The 26-man Green Falcons squad will report for a training camp in Damman on Monday with their opening Asian Qualifiers Group D tie against Yemen to be played on September 10.

Saudi Arabia will play a friendly against Mali on Thursday.

Uzbekistan, Palestine and Singapore are Saudi Arabia's other opponents in Group D.

Defenders: Ali Al Bulaihi, Omar Hawsawi, Mohammed Al Fatil, Ziyad Al Sahafi, Abdullah Madu, Sultan Al Ghannam, Hamdan Al Shamrani, Yasser Al Shahrani, Saud Abdulhamid.
Midfielders: Salman Al Faraj, Mohamed Kanno, Abdullah Al Khaibari, Abdurahman Al Dossari, Salem Al Dawsari, Khaled Al Sumairi, Hattan Bahebri, Abdulaziz Al Bishi, Abdulfattah Asiri, Mohammed Al Sahli.
Forwards: Mohammed Al Kwikbi, Firas Al Buraikan, Haroune Camara, Abdullah Al Hamdan.
