Vietnam training camp scheduled for mid-November

Hanoi: Vietnam are to kickstart their preparations for the resumption of the Asian Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and AFC Asian Cup China 2023 with a training camp next month.

The one-week training camp - to be held following the conclusion of the V.League - will begin on either November 15 or 18 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Centre in Hanoi.

The Vietnamese squad were scheduled to meet in August with head coach Park Hang-seo having called up 36 players. The postponement of the Asian Qualifiers, however, meant the training camp was called off.

With Park unable to gather his players this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Korea Republic tactician is expected to give several players returning from injuries a chance to stake their claim for places in the squad, with Vietnam also scheduled to defend their AFF Cup title in April.

The Asian Qualifiers are scheduled to resume in March, with Vietnam top of Group G on 11 points. Malaysia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia are the other teams in the group.
