Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has congratulated FIFA President Gianni Infantino on the successful conclusion of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, which was staged for the first time in an expanded 32-team format across 12 cities in the United States.

The month-long tournament, which concluded on Sunday, drew nearly 2.5 million spectators, delivered 63 matches, 195 goals, and an average attendance of over 40,000 per game — underscoring its growing stature as a premier global club competition. Chelsea FC defeated Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 at the Metlife Stadium to lift the brand-new trophy.

East Rutherford: Cole Palmer scored two goals and made another as Chelsea stunned Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 on Sunday, beating the European champions 3-0 at the MetLife Stadium

PSG were the favourites after coming to the United States fresh from winning the UEFA Champions League and having destroyed Real Madrid 4-0 in the semi-finals.

But having been three goals ahead midway through the first half in the semis, this time the roles were reversed as PSG found themselves 3-0 down by the break.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s commitment towards establishing the highest officiating standards was once again underlined with the appointment of three Asian officials to Sunday’s FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Final.

Leading the cast will be Australia’s Alireza Faghani, who will be supported by compatriots Anton Shchetinin and Ashley Beecham, appointed as assistant referees to the grand finale, bringing the tournament full circle after the trio also took charge of the opening match between Egypt’s Al Ahly SC and the USA’s Inter Miami.

Orlando: Substitute Hercules struck a 70th-minute winner as Brazil's Fluminense defeated Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal SFC 2-1 on Friday to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

A fine left-foot finish from Matheus Martinelli had put the Rio club ahead in the 40th minute but Al Hilal's Brazilian forward Marcos Leonardo levelled six minutes into the second half before Hercules stole the show to the delight of the vast majority of the 43,091 crowd.
