Kuala Lumpur: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has offered his condolences to the family and friends of former FIFA referee Jaswant Singh Sran who died at the age of 80 on Tuesday.
Jaswant was a respected figure in Malaysian football after refereeing in matches during the 1970s and 80s while serving the country in the country’s police force.
The AFC President said: “The Asian football family mourns the death of Jaswant Singh Sran who served Asian football with passion and dedication. On behalf of the AFC and our Member Associations, please accept our heartfelt sympathies and condolences.”
After retiring from his referee duties, Jaswant continued to play an important role in the sport by becoming a referee evaluator. His love for football extended beyond his duties as a match official as he was also the co-founder of the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA).
The thoughts and prayers of the AFC and the rest of the Asian football community are with the family and friends of Jaswant, the Football Association of Malaysia and the Malaysian football community during this difficult time.
