Shaikh Salman holds meeting with Lao Football Federation

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa welcomed the Lao Football Federation (LFF) President Viphet Sihachakr and the LFF General Secretary and AFC Executive Committee member Kanya Keomany to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today.

Shaikh Salman congratulated the LFF fraternity on the performance of the nation’s youth team at the recently concluded AFC U17 Asian Cup™ 2023 Qualifiers where the Lao team secured a place in the finals of the marquee age group tournament for the first time since 2012.

AFC President concludes meeting with Football Association of Singapore

Kuala Lumpur: Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, the President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) met with Bernard Tan, the Acting President of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), who was accompanied by FAS Council Member Goh Tat Chuan, and General Secretary Yazeen Buhari, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday.

Shaikh Salman extended his condolences on the sudden demise of the late FAS President, Lim Kia Tong, who also served as the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee (DEC) Chairperson since March 2011 until the time of his passing.

Stage set for new AFC Cup™ Champions to be crowned

Kuala Lumpur: First time champions will be crowned when Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur City FC meet Al Seeb Club of Oman in the AFC Cup™ 2022 Final on October 22 at 7pm (local time) at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

With both teams in their maiden Continental campaigns, Kuala Lumpur City will be aiming to emulate fellow Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta'zim, the AFC Cup™ 2015 champions, while Al Seeb will be seeking to be the first Oman club to lift the coveted trophy, with the winners also clinching a place in next season’s AFC Champions League™ Preliminary Stage. 
 
The eagerly anticipated showdown will be the second match in the tournament’s history to implement the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, following its debut in the AFC Cup™ 2021 Final clash between Bahrain’s Muharraq Club and Uzbekistan’s FC Nasaf.

Qatar will be the first country to host the Continental showpiece for a third time and all indications point to a fiesta of football when Asia’s best converge for the 18th edition of the AFC Asian Cup.

Cast confirmed for Uzbekistan 2023

Kuala Lumpur: The 16 teams for the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2023 was finalised on Tuesday with Australia topping Group H with a perfect record of three wins.

Australia defeated Iraq 1-0 in their final match at the Ali Sabah Al-Salem Stadium in Kuwait City.

There was, however, cheer for Iraq despite the defeat as they advanced as one of the best five runners-up.
