AFC women match officials selected for FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will be well represented by its world-class women match officials at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica 2022 from August 10 to 28.

In total, eight match officials – two referees, four assistant referees and two video match officials – from five AFC Member Associations have been appointed to the global showpiece.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia, Bahrain, Turkmenistan and Bangladesh will battle it out in Group E of the final round of the AFC Asian Cup 2023™ Qualifiers which takes place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Each of the nations will face each other once between June 8-14, with Bahrain looking to make it six consecutive appearances while Bangladesh and Malaysia are aiming to return after 42 and 16 years respectively while Turkmenistan want to make it two consecutive tournaments for the first time in their history, having competed in UAE 2019.

Al Yami: Focus secured Saudi Arabia impressive victory

Tashkent: Hamad Al Yami broke the deadlock in spectacular fashion to set the tone as Saudi Arabia defeated Tajikistan 5-0 in Group D of the AFC U23 Asian Cup™ Uzbekistan 2022 on Friday. 

The match was headed for a goalless first half but Al Yami stunned Tajikistan three minutes from the half-time whistle with an audacious backheel which led to the floodgates being opened in the second half.

The big win means Saudi Arabia lead the standings ahead of Japan, who defeated United Arab Emirates 2-1, with the two teams to face off on Monday.
