‘Feed the Hungry’ leaves profound impact on affected communities in Nepal

Kathmandu: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) commitment to enhance the lives of marginalised communities was further underlined through the successful completion of the ‘Feed the Hungry’ campaign, which was organised by the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) and Shelter Ashraya Nepal (SAN).

Funded by the AFC Dream Asia Foundation, the ‘Feed the Hungry’ project, which aimed to provide food for marginalised children and communities in Nepal, whose plight were further impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, reached those in need from targeted districts, including 60 families from the Jhapa district and 480 families from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

Committee Chairperson receives update on AFC’s commitment to strengthen Social Responsibility efforts

Kuala Lumpur: The Social Responsibility (SR) Committee Chairperson Zaw Zaw was briefed by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) General Secretary Dato’ Windsor John and Deputy General Secretary Vahid Kardany on the latest developments of the AFC’s social responsibility efforts in an online meeting on Thursday.

During the meeting, the Chairperson was informed that Social Responsibility will now fall under the umbrella of the Member Associations (MA) Division while the unit has also been elevated to a Department with additional responsibilities, to further underline the importance of the function within Asian football.

Guam’s youth national team players earn AFC Social Responsibility Ambassador certificates

Harmon: Four of Guam’s youth national team players were officially recognised as Guam’s first-ever AFC Youth Social Responsibility Ambassadors following a certificate presentation Friday afternoon at the Guam Football Association National Training Center’s Lecture Hall.

Kiarra Hutcherson, Samantha Kenney, Kai Pahl, and Alexander Stenson all earned their certificates after engaging in the AFC-Aurora e-Goal Programme, a virtual event with other participants from the region over three weeks beginning Sept. 21 last year and completing all programme requirements.

Immigrants Football League 2020 a resounding success 

Taipei: Chinese Taipei Football Association (CTFA), with assistance from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Global Workers Organisation (GWO), successfully organised the Immigrants Football League in 2020.

CTFA witnessed tremendous growth in football development through its commitment to social responsibility initiatives since the launch of the Immigrants Football League in July last year which saw 34 teams participating.

Four-month Social Responsibility programme kicks off in Maldives 

Male: The Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) commitment to strengthen social development through football was further underlined today with the launch of the Health and First Aid Programme in the Maldives, which marks the first in a series of activities organised as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the AFC and the Football Association of Maldives. 

More than 40 coaches, social and community workers as well as teachers participated in the one-day course in the country’s capital in Male, which covered basic first aid training topics comprising practical demonstrations of child and adult life saving techniques, emergency response and injury management.

Doha: Youth ambassadors from ‘eGoal’, an AFC-Aurora Virtual Responsibility Programme, shared their unique experiences at the Generation Amazing Festival 2020 of how the groundbreaking project gathered youths from across Asia to connect virtually to discuss on important issues and to learn how to reach out to communities.

The three-day festival, organised by Generation Amazing, promoted football for good through a variety of workshops under the theme ‘Connectedness’ which aimed to gather youths online during this challenging period.

Palestine FA distributes ultra-durable balls to the GFCC

Al Ram: Students from the Jericho province can now play football with new One World Play Project ultra-durable balls after the AFC Dream Asia Foundation donated 10 balls to the Palestine Football Association (PFA).

More than 100 students from five schools, comprising mostly girls, will benefit from the initiative and enjoy playing the sport with the ultra-durable balls which is suitable on concrete playing fields or soil playgrounds.
