AFC partners with AURORA to launch pioneering youth development programme

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), through its AFC Dream Asia Foundation, has partnered with Jordan-based youth development organisation, Aurora for Training and Development, to launch a ground-breaking pilot project titled e-Goal, which aims to create Youth Social Responsibility Ambassadors from across 12 AFC Member Associations in the West Zone. 

Underlining the AFC’s Mission to use football as a tool for social development across the Continent, the 10-day virtual pilot programme, which will commence on Sunday (June 28, 2020), will offer young players innovative and educational opportunities through which they can engage with fellow players and establish a youth ambassador network to support development post COVID-19.

Special Olympics benefit from the AFC Football Competition Management online workshop

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), in co-operation with the Special Olympics Asia Pacific (SOAP), successfully organised an informative Competition Management webinar for Special Olympics Sports staff members on Monday.

As part of the SOAP Learning & Development agenda, the webinar covered topics such as competition infrastructure, human resources, regulations and policies, Special Olympic Football as well as communications systems during the tournament. A total of 30 Sports Directors and Coordinators from 20 Asia Pacific Programmes participated in the webinar.

Brian See Mei Chiat, the AFC’s Head of Competition Support from Competitions and Football Events Division provided an in-depth presentation on tournament organisation, match operations and the best practical strategies on competition management.

AFC continues to support World Refugee Day 

Kuala Lumpur: In recognition of World Refugee Day tomorrow, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) remains committed in its pledge to use the power of football to reach out to people regardless of their abilities. 

Since the launch of the AFC Dream Asia Foundation by the AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa in 2017, the AFC with its partners, have organised Social Responsibility activities which have touched the lives of millions of refugees and directly benefitted close to 37,000.

MFF donates 2018 AFC Dream Asia Awards winnings to State Emergency Committee

Ulaanbaatar: The Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) has donated the funds received for winning the 2018 AFC Dream Asia Awards in the Aspiring category to the Mongolian State Emergency Committee to battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.  

Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Vice President and MFF President Ganbaatar Amgalanbaatar and other representatives from MFF held a meeting with the State Emergency Committee Chairman and Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister Enkhtuvshin Ulziisaikhan on Tuesday before delivering the donation, face masks, protective suits and electronic thermometers.

Mongolian school educators enhance COVID-19 prevention knowledge

Ulaanbaatar: The AFC Dream Asia Foundation in collaboration with the Mongolian Football Federation (MFF) and Mongolian Red Cross Society (MRCS) have reached out to educators in the country to provide training on the best practices to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.

Attended by 120 participants, the training was aimed at increasing the safety standards in schools which are vulnerable to the pandemic and to empower education professionals in the country.

Abu Dhabi: The UAE Pro League has become the first governing body in West Asia to launch a pioneering Child Safeguarding programme aimed at ensuring children can enjoy their right to play Football in a safe and inclusive environment, and preventing any risk of harm to children involved in the game.

The initiative is part of the UAE Pro League's commitment to promoting and protecting the safety and welfare of children, in line with FIFA's stated objective to ensure that involvement in Football, in any form, is a positive experience for all children.
