4th AFC Coach Education Conference focuses on ‘Educating Tomorrow’s Coaches’

Kuala Lumpur: The 4th AFC Coach Education Conference officially drew to an end on Thursday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where over 100 coach tutors and Technical Directors from all over Asia convened to discuss the latest developments and best practices in coach education. 

With the theme of “Educating Tomorrow’s Coaches”, the event was marked by insightful lectures, workshops, interactive dialogues – all aimed towards achieving the collective goal of making football the number one sport on the Continent and ensuring the success of Asian teams at all levels on the biggest stages in the world.

AFC Coach Education Conference makes much-awaited comeback

Kuala Lumpur: Returning for the first time since 2019, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) kicked off the 4th AFC Coach Education Conference in the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday under the theme of “Educating Tomorrow’s Coaches”. 

With Coach Education being among the key technical pillars of the AFC in its pursuit of developing football at all levels on the Continent, the three-day long Conference will witness some of the most renowned experts, not only in Asia, but from around the world share their ideas on the best ways to develop coach education programmes in a holistic manner.

Men’s Group A: Myanmar 1-0 Timor Leste; Philippines 1-1 Cambodia

Phnom Penh: Myanmar secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Timor Leste while Philippines fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Cambodia in Group A of the 2023 Cambodia Sea Games men's football on Tuesday.

Thet Hein Soe scored a late winner for Myanmar while Dov Carino netted deep into added time to earn Philippines a share of the spoils.

Urawa looking to raise roof in second leg

Tokyo: Urawa Red Diamonds are looking to "harness the power" of their boisterous fans when they host Al Hilal SFC in Saturday's AFC Champions League™ 2022 final second leg.

The two sides drew 1-1 in last week's first leg in Riyadh, with defending champions Al Hilal taking a 13th-minute lead through Salem Al Dawsari before Shinzo Koroki levelled for Urawa early in the second half.
 
Away goals count as a tie-breaker in the competition, and close to 60,000 fans will be at Saitama Stadium for the return leg.

AFC President lauds progress of football development in Tajikistan

Dushanbe: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa met with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, on Tuesday morning during his visit to the Central Asian nation.

Together with FIFA President Gianni Infantino, Shaikh Salman was received at the Palace of the Nation, where he reinforced the enduring ties between the Confederation and the Tajikistan Football Federation (TFF), while devoting time to better understand the challenges and opportunities to further elevate the standards of the game in Tajikistan.
