2nd AFC Grassroots Special Online Session 2022 highlights importance of establishing regular competitions
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted the 2nd AFC Grassroots Special Online Session yesterday to discuss ways of maximising the potential of the grassroots movement.
With over 90 participants taking part, the attendees first received an update on the status of the AFC Grassroots Charter membership which currently endorses four members at the Gold level while 10 Member Associations (MAs) hold a Silver-level membership, and 25 MAs are in the Bronze category.
AFC President looking to strengthen partnership with AIFF
Kuala Lumpur: Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa met with the All India Football Federation (AIFF)’s newly elected President, Kalyan Chaubey together with the newly appointed AIFF General Secretary Dr. Shaji Prabhakaran, on Friday and held an engaging discussion focused on unlocking the undeniable potential of the game in the country.
Shaikh Salman congratulated President Chaubey on the recent mandate received by the Indian football family and praised the AIFF for its exceptional organisational capabilities in staging the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, which is currently taking place across the cities of Bhubaneswar, Goa, and Navi Mumbai.
The AIFF’s exemplary hosting capabilities were also on display at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup India 2022™ earlier this year, and Shaikh Salman also noted the achievements of the men’s national team who, for the second successive time, sealed their place amongst the Continent’s top 24 sides at the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023™.
