AFC Grassroots Football Day 2022 set for fun-filled celebrations

Kuala Lumpur: A total of 41 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Member Associations (MAs) have pledged to join the AFC Grassroots Football Day 2022 to bring smiles and cheers through the unifying force of football.

Over 31,000 participants of all ages, backgrounds and abilities from across Asia are expected to join the annual football festival, ranging from small-sided games, virtual conferences and webinars organised by the AFC MAs.

Malaysia advance in men's football; Vietnam cruise into women’s last four

Hanoi: Malaysia qualified for the Hanoi Sea Games men’s football semi-finals despite being held to a 2-2 draw by Singapore in Group B on Saturday.

With Thailand defeating Cambodia 5-0 in the group’s later match, Malaysia are assured of a top two finish irrespective of what happens on Matchday Four. 

In women's football, Vietnam scored an emphatic 7-0 win against Cambodia in Group A to secure their place in the last four along with the Philippines.

Ha Nam: Indonesia claimed their first SEA Games men’s futsal win after strolling past Myanmar 6-0 at the Ha Nam Gymnasium on Saturday. 

Vietnam were also victorious, defeating Malaysia 7-1 in the day’s later match.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa has extended his condolences on the passing of the United Arab Emirates President, His Highness (HH) Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who passed away on Friday. 

Shaikh Salman expressed his great sadness, remembering the monumental efforts and contributions undertaken by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in transforming the economic and social development of the UAE and for his steadfast dedication towards philanthropic causes and empowering communities across the Emirates.

Kuala Lumpur: Following extensive discussions with the Chinese Football Association (CFA), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has been officially informed by the CFA that it would not be able to host the AFC Asian Cup 2023™.

China PR were appointed as hosts of the AFC Asian Cup 2023™ on June 5, 2019, at the AFC Extraordinary Congress in Paris. The 24-team competition was to be hosted across 10 Chinese cities from June 16 to July 16, 2023.
