Hamedan: The Preparatory referee course for the AFC U-14 Championship has begun in host city Hamadan with 15 young referees from 14 Member Associations participating in the course.
Experienced AFC referee instructors Ali Ahmed Al Traifi from Saudi Arabia and Victor Kolpakov from Kyrgyzstan are conducting the course for the referees who will be officiating matches at the AFC U-14 Championship.
The tournament director for AFC U-14 Championship 2014 Dr Shamil Kamil opened the course.
“This course is a great learning opportunity for the young referees who should take this occasion as an opportunity to improve their knowledge in the trade of refereeing,” Dr. Shamil said while addressing the participants.
“All our (AFC) competitions are standardised so I expect to see the best of refereeing from you in this competition and I also hope to see you in several of the international competitions in the future.
“This competition has a big significance as the best performers are going to be selected for the Project Future course for the referees so it’s an examination for all of you and I hope to see you deliver it sincerely,” he added.
The course will feature lectures on the duties of referees and assistant referees, fouls and misconduct, video tests, positioning and movement, match management, offside interpretation and teamwork and cooperation.
Besides practical sessions, a fitness test will also be carried out during the course.
The course participants are: Hamil Aqa Shir Aqa (Afghanistan), Cui Yong and Wu Ming Feng (China), Vairamuthu Parasuraman (India), Aprisman Aranda (Indonesia), Hiroki Kasahara (Japan), Chae Sanghyeop (Korea Republic), Abdullah Alkandari (Kuwait), Muhammad Azwan (Malaysia), Prajwol Chettri (Nepal), Qasim Matar (Oman), Ahmed Rauf (Pakistan), Muhammad Zulfiqar (Singapore), Mohammad Karram (Syria) and Khalid Almulla (UAE).
