Football Federation of Cambodia gains valuable insights from AFC WAP visit

Phnom Penh: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s undeterred commitment towards developing women’s football on the Continent reached yet another milestone when it conducted a visit to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh, from July 19 to 22, 2024 under the AFC Women’s Assistance Programme (WAP).

With AFC Head of Women’s Football Bai Lili at the helm, the WAP visit witnessed several significant meetings take place with key officials of the Football Federation of Cambodia (FFC), including FFC Vice President Khiev Samet, FFC General Secretary Keo Sareth, and FFC Technical Director Shigeaki Ichikawa.

Kuala Lumpur: Matchday 2 of the AFC Champions League Elite™ 2024/25 is set to be another cracking affair.

The new format featuring two leagues of 12 teams across the West and East regions will see each side facing eight different opponents within its region in the form of four home and four away matches.

The top eight teams from each region will advance to the knockout stage, leaving little room for error for the 24 sides going into the next round of maches.

#AFCU20 Qualifiers - MD4: Results & Reports

Kuala Lumpur: DPR Korea, Islamic Republic of Iran and Korea Republic emerged as the first teams to book their spots for the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 after topping their respective groups on Friday.

DPR Korea were the first to qualify as the three-time champions confirmed their ticket after a 1-0 win against Oman gave them an unassailable lead at the top of Group E.

Korea Republic punched their ticket shortly after, a 3-1 win against the United Arab Emirates confirming the record 12-time champions as the Group C winners while Iran are assured of the Group G top spot after edging India 1-0.

There is, however, still much to play for as 12 berths at the Finals remain available with all to be decided on Sunday.

Qualifiers - Group C: UAE 1-3 Korea Republic; Lebanon 8-0 N. Mariana Islands

Mishref: Korea Republic confirmed their berth at the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 after a 3-1 win over the United Arab Emirates in Group C of the Qualifiers on Friday.

The win took the 12-time champions to nine points and they are assured of finishing top of the group on the head-to-head ratio irrespective of their result against Lebanon on Sunday.

Qualifiers - Group J: Hong Kong, China 0-2 Qatar; Singapore 0-2 Jordan

Doha: Jordan and Qatar are set for a top-of-the-table clash after both registered their second wins in Group J of the AFC U20 Asian Cup™ China 2025 Qualifiers on Friday.

Jordan will head into Sunday's showdown only needing a draw after defeating Singapore 2-0 while Qatar, who have an inferior goal difference, also beat Hong Kong, China by the same score.
