3rd AFC Youth Panel focuses on AFC Elite Youth Scheme membership
Kuala Lumpur: Experts from all over Asia convened virtually on Thursday to discuss ways of improving youth development structures on the Continent when the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) conducted the 3rd AFC Youth Panel meeting.
Chaired by AFC Technical Director Andy Roxburgh, 12 participants from 11 Member Associations (MAs), including the likes of Korea Republic legend and Chairperson of the AFC Professional Football Task Force Park Ji-sung shared their knowledge on the best ways to enhance the transitional phase in youth football as talented youth players prepare to cross the threshold to find a place in senior teams.

Kuala Lumpur: With just under a year to go for the AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ Indonesia 2024, 24 teams across Asia will embark on their qualifying journey this Saturday, April 22.
To be played in a single round-robin league format at a centralised venue for each of the eight groups, Round 1 of the Qualifiers for the ninth AFC U17 Women’s Asian Cup™ will run until April 30 with the group winners progressing to Round 2.
Experts discuss way forward at 3rd AFC Grassroots Panel meeting
Kuala Lumpur: Grassroots specialists from 13 Member Associations (MAs) of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) met virtually on Tuesday to discuss strategy and exchange ideas for the development of grassroots football in Asia.
Led by AFC Technical Director Andy Roxburgh, the highly engaging meeting proved to be an excellent platform for experts from all over Asia to discuss ways to expand the reach of the grassroots movement across the Continent.
Saitama: The most successful Japanese side in Asia’s premier club competition, Urawa Red Diamonds have won the AFC Champions League™ twice and reached the final four times, while only two teams have lifted the continent’s most prestigious trophy on more occasions.
Should they win the final of the 2022 edition against four-time champions Al Hilal SFC of Saudi Arabia, the Saitama side would move level on three titles apiece with Korea Republic’s Pohang Steelers and write yet another chapter in their continental success story.
