Al Sadd have also endured a mixed campaign, needing a late goal to salvage a point against Foolad before being comprehensively beaten by Al Nassr 3-1 on Matchday Two. The Qatar champions, however, rediscovered their best form against Al Wehdat on Monday and will be aiming for another three points.

Al Rayyan began their AFC Champions League campaign with a goalless draw against debutants FC Goa of India before going on to suffer defeats against Islamic Republic of Iran's Persepolis FC (3-1) and Al Wahda (3-2) to lie bottom of the group.

Monday's thrilling win over Al Rayyan reignited Al Wahda's hopes after Henk ten Cate's side opened their campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Persepolis and 0-0 draw with FC Goa to sit second in the standings.

FC Goa opened their debut campaign in the AFC Champions League with 0-0 results against Qatar's Al Rayyan and UAE's Al Wahda but the Indian Super League side fell 2-1 to Persepolis after taking the lead on Monday.

Persepolis began their bid for the AFC Champions League title with a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Al Wahda and showed their fighting spirit to come from a goal down to defeat Al Rayyan 3-1 before seeing of FC Goa.
