AFC calls for emergency meetings with National and Club representatives
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is to call further emergency meetings with the representatives of MAs and its Leagues from both the East and West regions next week as the AFC continues to manage the worldwide impact of the Covid-19 outbreak.
The meeting of the East Zone representatives will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Monday and the West Zone meeting will follow on March 7 and 8, 2020.
AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Committee bans two Laos players for life
Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has taken tough action on match manipulation by banning two Laos national team players, Khampheng Sayavutthi and Lembo Saysana, from taking part in any football related activities for life.
They were found to have committed offences under Article 66.1 of the AFC Disciplinary and Ethics Code – 2018 edition. Both players were found guilty of conspiring to manipulate the result of an international match between the Hong Kong and Laos national teams on October 5, 2017.
In order to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation, no other details will be disclosed.
ACL2020 MD2 Toyota Player of the Week: Teruhito Nakagawa
Kuala Lumpur: Yokohama F.Marinos' Teruhito Nakagawa has been named the Toyota Player of the Week for Matchday Two of the 2020 AFC Champions League.
Yokohama F. Marinos forward Teruhito Nakagawa netted a brace to help the J.League champions ease past Australia's Sydney FC 4-0 at home in Wednesday's Group H tie as the 27-year-old picked up this week's top player plaudit.
Nakagawa's two goals came from two shots on target, with his first effort, a deft chip over Sydney FC goalkeeper Andrew Redmayne, nominated for Goal of the Week. The wide forward also created three chances for his teammates.

Kuala Lumpur: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has been informed by the Kuwait Football Association that the Kuwait Government will not allow the hosting of any sporting or non-sporting activities in the country as a response to the worldwide threat of coronavirus.
This decision means that the AFC Cup 2020 Group C match between Kuwait’s Qadsia SC and Dhofar Club from Oman scheduled for February 25, 2020 at the Jaber Al-Hamad International Stadium in Kuwait City cannot now take place as scheduled and will be postponed to a later date.
