Riyadh: ACL 2012 contenders Al Hilal continued their unbeaten run to 11 matches as Nawaf Al Abid scored the winner three minutes from time helping the Saudi giants to a 1-0 win over Al Nasr in the Saudi Pro League on Sunday.
Al Hilal, who drew both their matches in ACL group stage so far after playing 1-1 home draw with Piroozi and 3-3 away draw against Qatar’s Al Gharafa, are third in the table with 53 points from 23 matches.
Al Ahli, another Saudi representative in the ACL, kept the pace with the leaders Al Shabab with an emphatic 3-0 away victory over second-from-bottom Al Qadsiya.
Putting behind their dismal start to ACL campaign which saw them bagging a single point from two matches, second-placed Al Ahli opened the account in the eighth minute following Taisir Al Jassim’s strike. Colombian Jairo Palomino and Kamil Al Mousa added one goal each in the second half to secure an easy 3-0 victory.
Unlike Al Hilal and Al Ahli, Al Ittihad had to settle for a 2-2 draw at home against mid-table Najran.
The all conquering Al Ittihad, who won both their matches in Group B against Pakhtakor and Al Arabi, are sixth in the table in their domestic league with 32 points from 23 games. Jehad Al Hussain and Awdh Faraj found the net for Al Ittihad.
