Suwon: Sydney FC produced arguably their best performance in the AFC Champions League with a thumping 4-1 win on the road against Suwon Samsung Bluewings to keep their hopes of progressing to the Round of 16 alive.
Needing nothing less than three points, the Sky Blues showed their tactical flexibility to counter Suwon and frustrate the home side.
Counter Attack
Rather than try and take the game to their opponents, as they had done with little success in their first four games, Sydney FC instead preferred to sit a little deeper and allow Suwon to keep the ball, waiting for their chance to attack on the counter.
As their heat map (below) shows, most of their time was spent in their own defensive third, with a lot of that inside their own penalty area.
