Hiroshima: Sanfrecce Hiroshima fought right until the end in the second leg of their 2019 AFC Champions League Round of 16 second leg, earning a 3-2 win over Kashima Antlers, but it wasn’t enough to advance to the quarter finals as their J.League rivals progressed on the away goals rule after the tie ended 3-3 on aggregate.
Holding a 1-0 lead from the first leg, Kashima took a first half lead to double their aggregate advantage, but after the interval the game's momentum changed entirely as hosts Sanfrecce came roaring back.

Hiroshima: Kashima Antlers coach Go Oiwa was a relieved man after seeing his defending champions sneak into the quarter-finals of the 2019 AFC Champions League despite their 3-2 second leg loss at the hands of fellow J.League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
Last year’s winners had a pair of goals from Shoma Doi to thank for their win on the away goals rule that ensured the game ended in a 3-3 draw at the end of the two legs, and Oiwa was happy Kashima will be in the draw for the last eight in Kuala Lumpur on July 2.
“The most important point about today’s game is that we are now through to the next round,” he said.
“I know everyone will have different views about all that transpired during the match, but I hope we can build on this and regroup for our next J.League game against Hiroshima, then the quarter-finals.”

Hiroshima: Shoma Doi scored twice as Kashima Antlers squeezed through to the quarter-finals of the 2019 AFC Champions League on Tuesday, advancing on the away goals rule despite losing 3-2 in the second leg of their Round of 16 clash with fellow J.League side Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
Kashima progressed after the tie ended in a 3-3 draw, with Doi’s two goals at Hiroshima Athletic Stadium proving decisive as the holders advanced to last eight against a Hiroshima side that played the final 16 minutes with 10 men following goalkeeper Hirotsugu Nakabayashi’s sending off.
Kashima looked to be on track for a comfortable evening when Doi put them in front 12 minutes before the end of the first half but – inspired by second half substitute Patric – Hiroshi Jofuku’s side almost found a way through.

Ulsan: Shinzo Koroki struck in each half to secure Urawa Red Diamonds a 3-0 win against Ulsan Hyundai FC as the Japanese side advanced to the 2019 AFC Champions League quarter-finals 4-2 on aggregate.
Ewerton added a third late in the game as the 2007 and 2017 winners overturned a 2-1 first leg loss at Saitama Stadium 2002 to secure a remarkable comeback and become the second Japanese side to advance to the last eight, 24 hours after Kashima Antlers achieved the same feat.

Jinan: Brazilian star Paulinho believes his experience at playing in the elite level of the game helped him step up when it matters after his two goals against Shandong Luneng helped Guangzhou Evergrande into the quarter-finals of the 2019 AFC Champions League.
Former FC Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho is no stranger to the grandest of stages with FIFA World Cup campaigns and UEFA Champions League appearances in his career so far.
And, indeed, Paulinho memorably announced himself to Asia's football fans with an incredible goal in the 2015 AFC Champions League quarter-finals.
So it may have come as little surprise that on Tuesday night he was once more of pivotal importance to Guangzhou.
