Kuala Lumpur: The cream of Asia’s crop will begin their quest to scale the Continent’s peak next week when the AFC Champions League™ 2023/24 Group Stage gets underway for one last time before the 2024/25 season’s eagerly anticipated unveiling of a new portfolio of competitions. 

The 21st and final edition of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)’s flagship club competition will run from September 2023 to May 2024, with 40 participating clubs – divided into 10 groups during last month’s draw – from 21 Member Associations.

Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds were crowned Asian champions for the third time when they edged Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal SFC in their third meeting in an AFC Champions League final in six seasons, but 38 clubs from across Asia will challenge the two 2022 finalists for the coveted title this campaign.

#ACL: Teams learn path to glory

Kuala Lumpur: Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan will kick off the defence of their AFC Champions League title in Group J following the 2023/24 Official Draw in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Thursday. 

Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal SFC - who won the 2019 and 2021 titles and were runners-up last season - were drawn in Group D. 

The draw saw the 40 teams divided into 10 groups - five each in the East and West Zones.

The 10 group winners along with the three best runners-up of each Zone will book their places in the Knockout Stages, which will take place from February to April before the final is held over two legs on May 11 and 18, 2024.
