Adelaide: Adelaide United goalkeeper Mark Birighitti will leave the Reds and join A-League rivals Newcastle Jets after the Group Stage of this year's AFC Champions League.
Adelaide United's official website reported that the 20-year-old, who replaced suspended first-choice keeper Eugene Galekovic in the second-leg of the Reds' 2008 ACL final against Gamba Osaka, will remain part of the squad until the conclusion of their 2012 ACL Group E campaign before joining the Jets on a two-year contract.
Adelaide, the first-ever Australian club to feature in an ACL final, open their 2012 continental campaign on March 6 away to Uzbekistan's Bunyodkor and conclude their Group Stage matches on May 16, ironically against Gamba in Japan.
