Ajman: AFC Champions League 2012 playoff hopefuls Al Shabab Al Arabi edged Ajman 1-0 in Thursday's UAE Pro League Round 9 clash courtesy of a late winner from Brazilian striker Ciel.
Ciel (Jociel Ferreira Da Silva), who spent a season in Korea with Busan I'Park, scored the only goal of the game with five minutes left at the Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Stadium left to play.
The victory was Al Shabab's fifth of the 2011/12 UPL campaign and lifted them up to second in the standings with 18 points, two less than leaders and inaugural ACL champions Al Ain who have played a game fewer than Paulo Bonamigo's side.
Al Shabab host Uzbekistan's Neftchi on February 28 in a one-leg ACL 2012 playoff with the winner advancing to Group D in next year's edition of Asia's premier club competition.
