Composure secured Al Rayyan’s triumph over Istiklol, says Cordova

Riyadh: Head coach Nicolas Cordova said Al Rayyan’s calmness under pressure propelled the Qatari side to beat FC Istiklol 3-2 in their AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group A fixture on Friday. 

Al Rayyan fell behind early in the contest when Mukhammadzhon Rakhimov put Istiklol in front. However, Yacine Brahimi pulled one back before a Yohan Boli double steered the Qatar Stars League side to three points.

Riyadh: Al Shabab FC head coach Marius Sumudica has urged his side to be more clinical in front of goal following their 3-0 win over India’s Mumbai City in Group B of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 tie on Friday.

It was all Al Shabab from start to finish at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium with Ever Banega scoring in either half before Turki Al Ammar sealed the victory for the Saudi Arabian side.

Al Hilal took the lead as early as the fifth minute through's Saleh Al Shehri's spot-kick, with Sharjah equalising just two minutes later when Otabek Shukurov struck from close range, only for Michael to score the winner in the second half.

Riyadh: Qatar’s Al Rayyan FC defeated FC Istiklol of Tajikistan 3-2 in a thrilling AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group A tie at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on Friday.

In an absorbing encounter, Mukhammadzhon Rakhimov put Istiklol in front but the Tajikistan side soon saw their lead wiped out by goals from Yacine Brahimi and Yohan Boli, only for Muhammad Isaev to draw them level. Al Rayyan, however, took the points thanks to Boli’s second of the night in the 71st minute.

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia's Al Shabab marked their return to continental football after a seven-year absence with an emphatic 3-0 win against debutants Mumbai City of India in Group B of the AFC Champions League™ 2022 at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd on Friday.

Ever Banega opened the scoring for Al Shabab in the first half, before doubling their lead in the second, with Turki Al Ammar rounding off the night with his effort to bag all three points.

Riyadh: Air Force Club of Iraq edged UAE’s Al Jazira 2-1 in their opening AFC Champions League™ 2022 Group B tie at King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on Friday.

Hussein Jabbar gave Air Force Club the lead only for Zayed Al Ameri to level the tie just before the break but Ali Kadhim secured the Iraqi side the points with a late winner.

Dammam: Saudi Arabia’s Al Faisaly collected their first-ever AFC Champions League™ point on Friday after playing out a 1-1 draw against Jordan’s Al Wehdat at Prince Mohamed bin Fahd Stadium in Group E.

The Jordanians had never lost to Saudi opponents, drawing against Al Nassr 0-0 then beating them 2-1 in Group D last year, Al Wehdat’s debut in the competition.
