Daegu FC's Lee warns against complacency after huge AFC Champions League win over United City FC

Tashkent: Daegu FC head coach Lee Byung-geun refused to be drawn into a false sense of security after his side emphatically brushed United City FC aside with a 7-0 scoreline on Matchday Two of the 2021 AFC Champions League Group I on Tuesday.

Goals from Cesinha, Edgar Silva, Kim Jin-hyuk, Park Han-bin, Jung Chi-in and a brace by An Yong-woo ensured the side overturned their negative goal difference into a big cushion going into Matchday Three.

Tashkent: Kawasaki Frontale head coach Toru Oniki praised the professionalism of his players after they inflicted a 7-0 AFC Champions League defeat on a depleted Beijing FC in Group I on Tuesday.

With Beijing’s recognised stars absent from the Tashkent bubble, a rotated Kawasaki Frontale side took full advantage, bagging three goals before half-time and another four in a stunning 12-minute burst after the break to secure the club’s biggest ever AFC Champions League win.

A dominant force in Japan for much of the last 18 months, Kawasaki dominated even without a number of their regular starters – including Leandro Damiao and Kaoru Mitoma – with substitute Kei Chinen netting twice and Kento Tachibanada picking up Player of the Match honours on his Asian debut.

Bangkok: Head coach Heinz-Jurgen Gede wasn’t just happy that Viettel FC secured their first-ever AFC Champions League win, but that his side were able to showcase their attacking qualities after they beat Kaya FC-Iloilo on Tuesday. 

Two goals in the first seven minutes of the match with three more in the second half saw Viettel cruise 5-0 past Kaya, as the Vietnamese champions jumped into second place in Group F, three points behind Ulsan Hyundai FC who beat BG Pathum United 2-0 in the day’s earlier match.
